Ten Turkish universities are among the top 500 universities in the world, according to a report from the University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP) Research Laboratory.Istanbul University, Ankara University, Middle East Technical University, Hacettepe University, Gazi University, Ege University, Bilkent University, Istanbul Technical University, Boğaziçi University and Sabancı University are the Turkish universities ranked among the world’s top universities.
The University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP) Research Laboratory was established at the Informatics Institute of Middle East Technical University in 2009. URAP’s main objective is to develop a ranking system for world universities based on academic performance, as determined by the quality and quantity of scholarly publications. In line with this objective, URAP’s “World Ranking of 2,000 Higher Education Institutions” has been released annually since 2010.
